New Page! I wanted to do a "Soul" album for years, so i finally did one in the last half of the 1980's. I freely admit that Otis Redding, Ray Charles and Sam Cooke influenced my overall vocal style sooooo much, and you can hear it here. I'm going to include a few from this album, "Listen", even though the recordings are old and quality is not exactly hi-fi, the songs have Heart and they have Soul, so they are "good music" in my book. I play all the parts and sing on this one, with a couple guest appearances by Hugo Taylor, Mike Firis and Steve Lee, on "Stormy Weather" and "Learn to Split". Mutual Affection (S.Stransky) A nice "Cropper" style tune "Listen" (S.Stransky) Title Track for this project Good Good Thing (S.Stransky) I had a lot of fun with Memphis style horns on this project... Stormy Weather (S.Stransky) This was my favorite cut, from this project, because of the good friends/musicians on the track. new! Learn to Split (S.Stransky) Another one from this project, that featured the playing of my good friends, Hugo Taylor, Mike Firis and Steve Lee on the track. new! Keep Goin' (S.Stransky) This is a bouncy soul tune, with a uplifting message. new! You Need Love (S.Stransky) Here's something more driving and "Memphis". What ever happened? (S.Stransky) This song is evident of how i was purposely using ribbon mics and tape saturation to achieve the old R&B impact for the vocal, fidelity is poor, but the feel is correct.
